2015 National Championships, VGC
The season of major competitions is fast approaching this May for competitive Pokémon players. It is the occasion for European, American and Australian players to race for Championship Points (qualifying points for the World Championships in Boston from August 21 to 23). Here is a summary table of the Championship Points to be won during the National Championships.
Place | 1 | 2 | 3-4 | 5-8 | 9-16 | 17-32 | 33-64 | 65-128 |
Championship Points | 600 | 500 | 400 | 300 | 200 | 150 | 100 | 50 |
With 400 points in the prize pool, the semi-finalists (or even the quarter-finalists) mathematically ensure qualification for the World Championships, but to do so they will have to go through the Swiss round phase and win several knockout matches in 2 winning sets.
Championship Points determine the ranking of players for each zone: North America, Europe, South America, Asia and South Africa. Japan and Korea have their own qualification system independent of the other zones. At the end of the last competitions, a certain number of players will qualify for the World Championships, here is the distribution for each zone and for each age category.
Area | Masters (+16 years) | Senior (13-15 years old) | Junior (-12 years) |
