August Nintendo Direct confirmed with a surprise, what games to expect?

Finally! After several weeks of rumors, Big N has just announced a new imminent Nintendo Direct that promises more great announcements. What games can we expect?

Gamescom 2024 has closed its doors after welcoming some 350,000 visitors. The event was once again full of announcements, but two major players were missing: PlayStation and Nintendo. Rumor has it that both manufacturers will each have a significant speech in the coming weeks or even days. Nintendo Switch players will not have to wait long to discover the games that will accompany the hybrid console until its well-deserved retirement. The new Nintendo Direct has been made official.

Nintendo Direct August 2024 confirmed

After the rumors, it’s time for the official announcement. On its official accounts, the Japanese publisher confirmed the holding of an Indie World, followed by a Nintendo Direct this Tuesday August 27 at 3pm French time. This event will showcase upcoming games for the hybrid console in the second half of the year and beyond. We’ll stop you right there, no Nintendo Switch 2 on the horizon, as the manufacturer has confirmed that the next machine will wait for another opportunity to make the presentations. With more than 40 minutes on the clock, this new Nintendo Direct should still be generous with announcements. So, what can we expect for this August 2024 edition?

What games to expect?

This Nintendo Direct being above all a Partner Showcase, the chances of seeing the next major exclusives of the Nintendo Switch are reduced. It is therefore not certain that Zelda Echoes of Wisdom, Super Mario Party Jamboree and even Mario & Luigi: Brothership will benefit from a nice spotlight during the event. The partners will therefore be in the spotlight. We can expect Square Enix to show more of its next cartridges on the console, in particular Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake or FANTASIAN Neo Dimension, the latest game from the creator of Final Fantasy. Will the famous FF9 Remake finally be revealed in broad daylight? We do not count on it too much.

SEGA could show more about Sonic x Shadow Generations, while Sony could speed up communication around LEGO Horizon Adventures. That and probably a little shadow-drop to mark the occasion. It’s hard to make predictions for this edition of the Nintendo Direct, the content of which has not been leaked. Obviously we want to scream at the top of our lungs HOLLOW KNIGHT SKILKSONG! And what if this time it was the right one? We have the right to dream, even if Team Cherry announced a few days ago that they were working hard on their new baby.
