Dragon Age 4: New gameplay that makes you really want it

New gameplay details continue to emerge bit by bit for Dragon Age 4, and it’s making us want to dive into the adventure even more.

The release now set for October 31 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series is getting closer for Dragon Age 4: The Veilguard, but BioWare’s next title is far from having revealed all its secrets. New details continue to emerge regularly about it, and this time focus on combat and the options offered to the different classes of the game in this sense at high level.

Top-tier gameplay for Dragon Age 4

BioWare has split a double communication to present new details on Dragon Age 4. On the one hand, this takes the form of a blog article on the official website of the game, cited in source below. On the other hand, we are entitled to a 10-minute video of gameplay. All of them focus on high-level fights, with a certain emphasis on the Warrior class. Naturally, if you want to keep the surprise and not SPOILERavoid reading the following.

As you might expect, the Warrior is relatively classic and specializes in hand-to-hand combat, but can also fight from a distance. Such a profession is not lacking in subtleties, however. This includes different skills to unlock, which can be changed on the fly depending on the opponents you face. The bestiary of Dragon Age 4 is vast, with each creature having resistances and weaknesses to different types of attack. A certain tactical aspect must therefore be taken into account, despite the more Action-RPG orientation of the Inquisition sequel.

In addition to various skills to unlock, our avatar has four common commands in Dragon Age 4: jump, dodge, light attack and heavy attack. As in other similar games, we can combine all of this to trigger various combos. Also note that each attack increases a stun gauge against our opponent, heavy hits being more effective in this sense.

Like a Mass Effect feel that is confirmed

As we saw in the first gameplay presentation of Dragon Age 4, this opus departs from the tactical camera with pause in order to control our companions ourselves. This is done here through a radial menu to be activated at any time. From there, we can order our team to use their skills, like in Mass Effect. Another similarity with BioWare’s science fiction license, their special moves can be combined with others, to trigger powerful chain reactions that can cause a lot of damage or violently stun our opponents.

Despite a more nervous orientation, Dragon Age 4 clearly does not lack tactical elements. The whole thing looks rather promising. However, we will have to wait for its release scheduled for October 31 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series to be sure once the game is in hand.
