If you’re tired of playing Giant’s Bane in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, there are several alternatives available for an “Unga Bunga” build. The most notable example is undoubtedly the Anvil Hammer, which is very literal in name, as it is effectively an anvil with a handle. It does have potential as a high-level hybrid build, though.
Hammer-Anvil Position
This weapon is found in the first forge ruins of the DLC. From the starting area of the DLC, cross the large stone bridge heading east and Ensis Castle. Then, follow the road south, until you come across some ogres fighting Messmer’s soldiers. Behind them, you will find the dungeon containing the hammer.
The only real difficulty of this type of dungeon lies in the golems, enemies with exceptional defense. You have to attack them from behind, in order to make them lose their balance. This allows you to inflict a critical hit on them afterwards. You can also choose to ignore them and run, since they are also exceptionally slow. Be aware that the crystal dart throwing consumables allow you to make them go berserk. They will then attack their peers.
The objective of the dungeon is simple, go down into the area, then activate the lever, in order to lower the huge metal tube in the center of the dungeon. You can then use it as a ramp, to reach the top of the dungeon, with the forge altar.
Anvil Hammer Statistics
As is often the case with DLC weapons, the Anvil-Hammer’s requirements may frustrate you a bit, since it requires 39 Strength, 10 Dexterity, 11 Intelligence, and 20 Faith. You’ll probably have to sacrifice a few points to be able to equip it effectively.
- You cannot change this weapon’s affinities, nor can you change its skill with Ashes of War. It also cannot be enhanced with spells.
- The Anvil Hammer has 4 affinities, it will shine especially at high level with a Hybrid, Strength and Faith build. It inflicts physical damage and fire damage.
- Affinities at +10: Strength B, Dexterity E, Intelligence E, Faith D
- Although the affinities are a bit disappointing at first, it should be noted that Faith boosts both physical and fire damage, which gives a very high total. Having a very high Faith score (50, 60) will give excellent results.
- Its base attack power, as well as the weight of the weapon, make it devastating. All enemies that can be crushed to the ground by an attack will be, if you give them a powerful vertical blow.
- This weapon’s skill causes spears to spawn around you, which is handy when dealing with a group of small, annoying enemies.
Devonia Hammer
Another popular hammer from the DLC that you can use in combination with the Anvil Hammer is the Hammer of Devonia. A particularly fearsome Crucible Knight, who resides in the ancient ruins of Rauh.
