Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is full of more or less well hidden secrets, like the paintings or the statue of Marika. The hanging pots are much more discreet, many players risk finishing the DLC without noticing them. Fortunately, it’s not too bad, unless you want to make intensive use of consumables.
How to destroy hanging jars?
The solution is pretty intuitive, but here it is anyway. You simply have to equip a throwing weapon that allows free aimingsuch as a bow or crossbow. This works even if you don’t have the required attributes. Also, consider equipping ammo, if you haven’t already. Theoretically, it’s possible to destroy the pots with a spell or a ranged attack without aiming, but it’s a difficult exercise.
Grab the weapon in both hands with Y/triangle + RB, then aim by pressing LB. All you have to do is shoot to destroy the pot, even 1 point of damage is enough.
An object will fall to the ground, under the destroyed pot. This will each time be a Cinerary Pearl to be given to the Carcass of the twin maids of the Round Table. This will allow you to purchase new crafting components in exchange for a few runes.
These components are available in unlimited quantities, and are normally hard to obtain, which is very useful for certain builds or for doing a challenge run. Ropes in particular were incredibly painful to farm.
Position of Hanging Pots on the map
To our knowledge, there are a total of 6 hanging pots in the Elden Ring DLC. They are all outside, and hanging high up. Don’t waste your time shooting all the jars inside the jail-type dungeons.. They are indestructible. Check out screenshots of specific locations, with more precise directions, further down in this article.
Cordier’s Cinerary Pearl
Behind the panoramic village, on the rocky plateau to the west of the Sepulchral Plain. Follow the cliff from Belurat to reach it.
Herbalist’s Cinerary Pearl
Start from the Dragon Pit Grace Site, then exit the dungeon. The pot is hanging between the dragon statues at the side of the road. Watch out for the black flame birds.
Mushroom Merchant’s Pearl (1)
Start from the Death Knight Catacombs Grace Site, north of the Grave Plain and Ensis Castle. Exit the dungeon, then follow the cliff to the right until you reach the edge of the void. The pot is hanging from one of the cliffs to the right.
Mold Merchant’s Pearl
The pot is just behind the Downriver Grace Site (see our directions to reach it). The problem is that the pearl will fall down into the river. Go around to the north, as you did to reach Rakshasa, which requires you to descend onto a series of rocky plateaus (not the hanging tombs).
Go around to the northeast, as you did to reach Rakshasa, this requires you to descend onto a series of rocky plateaus (not the hanging tombs). Watch out for the Black Flame birds in the area.
Grease Merchant’s Pearl
From the Grace Site near the Wizard Tower, head back down the road south, following the cliff on the right. You will come across a pack of wolves sleeping on a small rocky plateau. The pot is hanging behind them. Once again, you will have to go around to retrieve the pearl.
Mushroom Merchant’s Pearl (2)
Head down the river towards the South Coast. You will reach a grace site at the top of a huge waterfall. Head down the rocks, then onto the rocky peak that serves as a bridge across the waterfall. The pot is suspended in front of the waterfall.
You will once again have to finish your descent, to collect the loot.
