Keldeo is a semi-legendary Pokémon with an impressive stat distribution: a very good special attack, good speed, more than decent defensive stats, and few losses in attack. Ideal for making it a devastating special sweeper. It has a dual type Fight / Water providing him with a unique resistance cover in Overused, and very interesting stabbed attacks including Anointed Blade. This special type attack Fight is based on the enemy’s Defense, not its Special Defense. A ”Psy Shock like” which will allow it to pass without difficulty through special walls such as Lucky you And Leuphoria with sufficient investment in damage (Life Orb / Choice Glasses / Fullness + max Special Atk). A very interesting Pokémon despite its completely useless special ability.
However, a weakness in the type should be noted. Flight not negligible due to the omnipresence of Flambusard in Overused, and a very limited move pool, making it extremely predictable and counterable with many interesting dual-type tanks (Mega Venusaur / Gaulet / Moyadeetc.).
Choice Keldeo (OR) |
|||
Keldeo @ Glasses_Choice / Handkerchief_Choice
Special Ability: Noble Heart |
Hydrocannon / Boil |
||
Nature : Shy |
Anointed Blade |
||
EV: HP 4 / Atk Sp 252 / Sp 252 |
Wind Ice |
||
IV: Maxed | PC Plant / Flight / Elec. |
This moveset allows you to best highlight Keldeo’s main assets: his Special Atk and his Speed, while taking advantage of his dual type with numerous resistances to be able to place him. The Choice_Glasses will allow Keldeo to do a lot of damage even if the opponent switches to a Pokémon that is supposed to resist it. The Choice_Scarf will allow it to speed past all Pokémon under 108 base speed at +1, and all OU Pokémon without a speed buff. The OU Pokémon that are faster than it can then be counted on the fingers of one hand: Minotaupe with Sand Bath under the Sandstorm, Mega Diancie after a PolirocheAnd Mega Metagross after a Haste.
However, it is impossible to cover the entire OU even with 4 attacks, the choice of Pokémon you want to hit will be up to you: PC Flight will allow to touch Venusaur And Gaulet, PC Elec. will allow to knock out Gyarados after a Draco Dance and touch AzumarillAnd PC Plant will allow to hurt a Motisma-Washer in Defense and Moyade.
For the choice between Hydrocannon And Boilingit’s a matter of taste. Boiling has 100% accuracy and can potentially burn a Pokémon that accidentally decides to position itself on it. And Hydrocannon really, really hurts but is not 100% accurate.
It should also be noted that like all movesets based on a Choice object, Keldeo will be very easy to Revenge Kill.
Useful in the team: – Latios – Siderella – Mega Scizor |
Examples of checks and counters: – Mega Venusaur – Gaulet – Motisma Washer |
Sub + Calm Mind (OR) |

Keldeo @ Remains |
|||
Special Ability: Noble Heart |
Cloning |
||
Nature : Shy | Fullness |
||
EV: Def 4 / Atk Sp 252 / Sp 252 |
Boiling |
||
IV: Maxed | Anointed Blade |
Cloning allows to Keldeo to protect itself from status problems, and to gain an advantage over defensive Pokémon that don’t do enough damage to kill its clones, such as Mega Flagadoss (without Psy Shock), Gaulet And Heatran. This attack also has excellent synergy with FullnessAnd Boilingincreasing the staying power of Keldeo against Pokémon that hit special while making it even more threatening. And Boiling has the ability to burn physical threats.
Keldeo can then act as an additional Win Condition if the opponent no longer has any effective counters.
The biggest problem is that these famous counters are even more numerous than with his other movesets, since Keldeo no longer has access to attack Wind Icewhich allowed him to touch Pokémon Dragon threatening such as Lati@s with Psy Shock or users of Draco Dance. He also no longer has access to the PC which allowed him to handle a few other additional threats.
The support of the rest of the team is therefore really felt for this moveset. A Latias with Wish Care would allow him to double his Staying Power while covering almost all of his weaknesses. This is a good first option. A trapper such as Siderella to trap type dangers Poison is also a great idea.
There are many team options that allow you to take full advantage of this very clever moveset. Plus, you’ll feel like you’re playing a team with great synergy if you choose this route. Keldeo is in this a very pleasant Pokémon to play.

All-Out Attacker (OU) |

Keldeo @ Orbe Vie |

Special Ability: Noble Heart | Boiling
Nature : Shy | Anointed Blade
EV: Def 4 / Atk Sp 252 / Sp 252 | Wind Ice
IV: Maxed | PC Plant / Flight / Elec. |
With this set, Keldeo turns into a classic All-out Attacker that hits in special. The principle of an All-out Attacker is to allow a Pokémon to hit as hard as possible on a maximum of opposing Pokémon, and therefore a maximum of types. This is why we choose to put 4 offensive attacks, this kind of set is very simple to use.
Boiling And Anointed Blade will be the main attacks of Keldeobecause they are stabilized and already have excellent type coverage.
Boiling has 100% accuracy and also has the ability to burn the opposing Pokémon.
Anointed Bladealthough being a special attack, uses the opposing Pokémon’s defense for damage calculation. This allows Keldeo to hit even Pokémon with high Sp Def.
Wind Icealthough having low power, allows Keldeo to do damage to Pokémon Dragon such as Lati@sin addition to decreasing their speed. This will allow you, if you manage to predict a switch from the opponent on this Pokémon, to KO it in 2 Wind Ice without him being able to touch you.
And finally, PCs will help manage a few additional threats. PC Flight will allow to touch Venusaur And Gaulet, PC Elec. will allow to knock out Gyarados after a Draco Dance and touch AzumarillAnd PC Plant will allow to hurt a Motisma-Washer in Defense and Moyade.
Overall, a good moveset, although it hits less hard than a Choice_Glasses and less quickly than a Choice_Scarf. Pokémon with too much special defense and resistant to type attacks Fight will therefore be able to counter it without any problem.
