Labyrinth of Edal North Zelda Tears of the Kingdom: How to complete it?

It’s hard to miss the presence of mazes on the map of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, as well as in its skies. It’s an expansion of the trials already present in Breath of the Wild, but instead of a standalone labyrinth each time, there are three linked mazes that await you: one on the surface, one in the skies, and one in the depths. It can be intimidating when you don’t know where to start. If you are in the South of the continent, check out the other guide below.

Earth Labyrinth – North Edal Abyss

The first step is to travel to the surface entrance to the labyrinth, the North Edal Abyss, northeast of the Hebra Mountain Range. The other two are currently inaccessible. The area is located between the Urban Meadow Scout Tower and the Dark Ruins Tower. A stele and a camp with a journal mark the entrance to the area. Bring cold-proof clothing, and something to melt the ice. This can be done by lighting fires, whether with the flint + bundle of wood combo, the heat aura of a flaming weapon, or fire fruits. Having anti-miasma clothing can also help you explore more comfortably.

It is possible to land directly in the labyrinth, either by descending from the sky islands, or by using a vehicle, but it is not recommended. You may become disoriented, and there are miasma hands lurking in the area. It is probably wiser to explore the area normally.

Finding your way around this maze is easy. Just follow the hyrule pine cone trail left on the ground by the previous maze explorer. If you get lost, just look for a new pine cone, or a camp. You’ll have to walk through the miasma at times, but it’s nothing too bad.

There is no need to limit yourself to the marked path, there are plenty of objects and chests to collect in the corners of the labyrinth, especially if you do melt the ice blocks.

Upon reaching the end of the maze, you will find a circular terminal to activate, and a Sanctuary. You will need to melt the ice block at the entrance to activate it.

Celestial Labyrinth – North Edal Castle

Now, you need to reach the labyrinth hidden in the sky. You can reach it via the Urban Prairie Scout Tower, then by using the hot air balloons on the sky islands. Or, with enough stamina, the Obscurities Ruins Tower allows you to reach the entrance directly. Landing on the roof of the labyrinth is of no interest at the moment.

As you approach the maze, you will discover that a special effect is affecting the area. Falls are slower, and flying in a Paraglider is easy thanks to the updrafts. Land at the entrance to the maze, to activate the switch, and complete the nearby Ten Vezai Shrine, which will also serve as a fast travel point.

Proposing a walkthrough of the celestial labyrinth is difficult, since it is a complex area, with a progression in three dimensions. However, it is not difficult to complete, when you are aware of the few rules that govern the place, and the tricks to exploit:

  • The position of the four terminals: There is one in the center, then one in each corner of the labyrinth (except the one at the entrance).
  • It is possible to progress quickly in navigating with the minimaprather than observing the game screen.
  • Think in three dimensions, if you cannot find a passage at your current altitude, try to go down, or, on the contrary, to go up.
  • There are chests scattered throughout the maze, with soneau weapons.
  • Remember to rest from time to time to restore your endurance.
  • Once all four terminals are activated, the central terminal above the labyrinth will activate, and the upwinds will strengthen. You simply have to deploy your Paraglider to fly above the area. Land, then activate the terminal, which will open access to the last labyrinth, that of the Depths.

Labyrinth of the Deep – Old Castle of North Edal

At least reaching the last maze is simple. You just have to jump from the diving board of the celestial labyrinththen accelerate your fall into the depths. Remember to adjust your trajectory, however, so as not to hit the edges.

When you are plunged into darkness, and a red light can be seen, deploy your Parasail, so as not to crash into the grid on the ground.

This last maze is not really one, the structure of the place is simple, a boss awaits you at the lower level, an Ultimate Golemax. At this point in the game, this should not normally be a very difficult fight for you, by making good use of the Grip to tear off its vulnerable cube. The structure of the area will also greatly hinder it. It is also possible to snipe it with the bow from the corridor, without putting yourself in too much danger.

Reward

After beating the boss, a chest will appear. It contains the helmet of a high-level gear set: the Spectral Greaves. These are similar to the Stealth Outfit and the Yiga Outfit, but with much more base defense. If you take the time to upgrade it, it is one of the best armors in the game.

The labyrinth’s gates will also open, allowing you to reach the rest of the depths. Be aware that the nearest root is hidden on the roof of the building. Climb the walls to reach it.
