Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree not only introduces PvE content, but also weapons, spells, and incantations that can be used in PvP, whether in the Coliseum or during invasions. Players can always be counted on to find original, even frustrating, ways to kill their fellow man. Nanaya’s Torch is a good example.
How to get Nanaya’s Torch?
To reach this torch, you will need to reach the Abyssal Woods, with the last Map Fragment. Check out our directions, to find out how to reach this isolated area. You will then need to reach the Southwest section of the Abyssal Woods, with Midra’s Manor. You will need to find the key, then access the library to the right of the building.
You must go over the top of the bookcases, in order to jump onto a high passage, with Nanaya’s corpse. A ladder allows you to climb upstairs if necessary.
Usefulness of Nanaya’s Torch
As its name suggests, it is a torch, don’t really expect to inflict any damage worthy of the name with it, even if you upgrade it to the maximum. Like the other items of the Exalted Flame, however, it has affinities for 4 attributes, Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence and Faith.
But what makes her really interesting is her skill, Feverish Exalted Flame. This is a skill that can be maintained for a long time. It will consume some CP and some stamina, but flames will rain down all around you. A target located a few meters away has a high chance of being hit.
Another effect of this skill is that all nearby players (including you) will automatically accumulate Madness. When the bar is full, damage is dealt and CP is lost, with a special animation that will make you vulnerable.
This is not very effective unless you have a special build, with a high score ofEsotericism. But in this case, with a build already focusing on Madness, you can easily finish off a player.
Nanaya Torch Bug and Eclipse Shotal
A fun bug has been discovered with Nanaya’s Torde, and we can expect it to be fixed soon. But as of this writing, the Torch’s ability will also spread the special affliction effect of your main-hand weapon. This is where a weapon that is normally considered useless, the Eclipse Shotal, comes into play, since it is the only weapon capable of inflicting the most fearsome affliction in the game, the Malemort.
As you may have understood, the Feverish Exalted Flame will gain an aura of Madness and Malemort in these conditions, which can be particularly dangerous. Very few spells and consumables allow you to protect yourself from Malemort, and the chances of having them on hand during a player versus player fight are practically zero.
Hopefully this will be fixed soon. Until then, be wary of any player holding a torch.
