NG+ Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree: What changes does New Game Plus bring?

After defeating the final boss of the Elden Ring SOTE DLC, the next step is to start a new adventure to increase the difficulty and collect what you missed. Check out the list of retained and lost items in this guide, such as the Blessings of the Splinters.
Like all FromSoftware games, Elden Ring has had a New Game Plus mode since its release. It doesn’t fundamentally change with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, but new things are imported (or not) by starting a new game from the Round Table.

How to unlock NG+ DLC?
You don’t need to have killed the final boss of the DLC to go into New Game Plus. It’s exclusively linked to the final boss of the base game. Go sit down at the Table of Grace of the Round Table, in order to have the option to launch NG+. Of course, it’s probably not a good idea to ignore the content that’s still available before doing so. Many players who were already in NG+ before the DLC arrived obviously didn’t have a choice.
DLC Changes in NG+
- As in the base game, you keep your levels, items, weapons, consumables, armor, spells, healing vials, mounts and others. However, you lose almost all story-related items (keys, scrolls). Major Runes are also lost. All quests are reset.
- Obviously enemies deal more damage, and have more health in NG+, which increases the overall difficulty. In return, they drop more Runes. There is no exclusive content in NG+, but it is the only way to get all the possible quest rewards, since they tend to be mutually exclusive. In the case of DLC, we think of the Queelign, Jolàn and Leda quests for example.
- Miquella’s Major Rune is lost.
Blessings of the Shadow Realm and NG+
- The most important thing about the expansion is that your Shadow Realm Blessings are preserved. There are a total of 50 Occult Tree Splinters, for a maximum Occult Tree Blessing level of 20. They do not respawn, but you can go and collect the ones you missed in NG+.
- The same goes for the 25 Venerated Asheswhich allow to reach the Level 10 Revered Spirit Ash Blessing.
