Octorock Zelda Tears of the Kingdom: How to repair your weapons easily?

One of the most debated features in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is the durability of Link’s weapons and shields. While many players find it infuriating to see their gear break after a few uses, others enjoy having to constantly search for new gear to test out different Amalgams. But did you know that some weapons can be repaired?

How to repair damaged weapons?

If you particularly like a weapon but it is about to break, go quickly to a Octopierre ! The latter will be able to vacuum it and return it to you as good as new. Remember to to safeguard just before giving a weapon/bow/shield to an Octorock as this will add a random additional effect to your weapon among the following few examples:

  • Increased durability
  • Attack from +1 to +5
  • Defense from +1 to +5 (for shields)
  • Finishing Blow: When the weapon is about to break, the attack power increases
  • Increased casting distance
  • … (non-exhaustive list)

Attention

Be careful, this technique does not work with all weapons. Those that can be purchased (magic wand from Genie Statues for example) or recrafted (mountain breaker for example) cannot be repaired/improved by octopierre. Just like the more unique weapons (the best is to try).

It is only possible to upgrade a weapon once every Blood Moons via the same Octorock.

  1. Stand in front of the Octopierre and wait for it to spit its first cannonball,
  2. Come a little closer and place the weapon you want to repair in front of him,
  3. Stand back and wait for him to suck up the gun,
  4. If the repair works, glitter will shine around it,
  5. He will then spit out the weapon/shield: be careful of the potential damage this could cause you!
  6. Pick up the repaired equipment to see its new effect.

Where to find Octorocks?

To successfully repair a weapon, you should particularly aim for the Rock Octorocks of the Ordinn region. They are the only ones who can suck up your weapons and return them to you not only repaired but also with an effect. Remember to deactivate your Oaths if you want to prevent Babil, Yunobo, Riju or Sidon from killing the beast.

Also, if you want to perform the operation as calmly as possible on a powerful weapon, you can first remove the Amalgam on it by going to Euzéro Village for a few rubies.
