Available since November 23, 2016, the Ditto Pokémon can sometimes be very difficult to catch on Pokémon GO! And for good reason: this little trickster disguises itself as other Pokémon in the game and you have to have a keen eye to find it. In this guide, we explain how to spot it and which Pokémon from 2024 it likes to imitate.
How to get a Ditto on Pokémon GO?
Ditto will never appear in his true form in the wild. That is to say that on your game screen, you will not see Ditto. You will therefore have to find the Pokémon that he disguised himself as in order to hope to obtain it.
- Walk around a bit until you come across a Pokémon that Ditto likes to imitate (list available below),
- Capture the Pokémon in question: if an “Oh?” appears on the screen, it was actually a Ditto.
Be careful though, it is now possible to also come across Zorua, another devious Pokémon who likes to disguise himself.

What does Shiny Ditto look like?
Ditto has been available in Shiny form since the Pokémon Go Kanto Tour on February 20, 2021. You can recognize it by its sky blue color instead of pink, and small stars appear next to its name. Since September 1, 2021, it has been available in Shiny form in the wild.
- If you come across a shiny Pokémon (a Rattata for example), it will remain a shiny Rattata and will not transform into a Shiny Ditto,
- On the other hand, by catching a normal disguised Pokémon that has the ability to transform into Ditto, you have a chance of coming across a Shiny Ditto.
