Launched in early access since August 27, Star Wars Outlaws had a bad surprise in store that made many players furious, for several reasons.
On the one hand, Star Wars Outlaws’ early access involved pre-ordering a rather expensive Gold Edition that caused controversy. On the other hand, the advantage of playing Ubisoft Massive’s title three days before its official release had a side effect that legitimately didn’t go down well with players.
Sabacc’s take on Star Wars Outlaws Early Access
Normally, early accesses that are a few days ahead of others are a way to motivate fans to spend a few extra credits, as a reward. But things have taken an unfortunate turn, at least on the PS5 version of Star Wars Outlaws. An update 1.000.002 has been deployed on the console, with an email (or a holo-transmission, to stay on the theme) from Ubisoft.
To better enjoy the Outer Rim, we have launched a maintenance to ensure that everyone is playing on the latest version of Star Wars Outlaws. You may encounter issues after the recent patch. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Once the latest version is confirmed, we ask that you restart a new save to enjoy the game as we intended. If you restart your current save, you will unfortunately encounter blocking bugs. ” Naturally, PS5 players (the problem does not seem to affect other platforms) who spent a hundred euros took the news very badly.
Many had indeed already made good progress in Star Wars Outlaws, and the prospect of starting from scratch is inevitably very discouraging, and somewhat removes all the interest in having pre-ordered a more expensive version of the game offering early access. Unfortunately, no other alternative seems possible for the moment for those who started their adventure with Kay and Nix before the said update. On the other hand, this update introduced a quality mode locked at 40 FPS, offering a decent balance between clean graphics and fluidity.
