Mimics are special enemies found in various video games, but they have become especially famous thanks to FromSoftware. YouTube is full of videos showing how to identify them, fight them, and the reactions of thousands of people who have fallen into their clutches.
As their name suggests, mimics are enemies that blend into the environment to trick us, catch us by surprise and often kill us in one hit. In Dark Souls they take the form of chests that usually contain very juicy rewards. The only way to recognize them is by the position of the chain next to it.
Lies of P has been missing these pesky little friends, but Lords of the Fallen balances out this absence with much scarier and trickier versions of those in Dark Souls.
- The first thing you should know is that They don’t use chests as a lurebut the shape of the objects on the ground: a yellow ball with a string at the top. In other words: one of the most common items in the game. If we pick it up, a huge moth appears that traps us and does a lot of damage.
- The second thing you should know is that they are usually located near walls and edgesalthough do not take this data as an unbreakable law because it is not fulfilled in all cases.
Knowing this, how can we identify these traitors? The method is very simple on paper, but it gets complicated when we play because we are interacting with the same element all the time. The key is to look at the thread that comes out above.
- Normal object: the thread oscillates, but always remains straight.
- Mimic: The thread swings and dances from time to time, breaking the original straightness. In this case, we must take out the Umbral lamp and use the Umbral Lamp’s powerful ability to kill the moth and be able to take the object it guards.
