This cyclist owes a debt of gratitude to his Apple Watch

We regularly share inspiring stories about the Apple Watch. The connected watch has once again helped save a life according to the story of Eric Zollinger, a 49-year-old New York cyclist.

It all starts during a typical commute as he leaves work to go home. Unfortunately, the latter encounters a particularly pernicious pothole. This water-filled trap literally makes him flutter onto the nearby sidewalk.

When the Apple Watch calls for help

The man manages to get up with some difficulty and finally returns home. As he prepares to take a shower, Eric Zollinger notices that his nose is bleeding profusely. He quickly becomes dizzy. Unfortunately, it is too late, and he faints.

This is where its Apple Watch comes into play. Noticing that its user is in danger, the connected watch takes the initiative to dial 911, the emergency number in the United States. The cyclist describes what happens next to our colleagues at New York Post :

The next thing I remember hearing was, ‘911, what’s your emergency?’

He ends up going to the emergency room on his own, but he is nevertheless adamant that his Apple Watch potentially saved his life: “I don’t know how things would have turned out for me if the watch hadn’t alerted me”.

Remember that the Apple Watch is often praised for its health features, and in particular its tools for measuring the proper functioning of the heart. Recently, we discussed the case of this American police officer, Luke Heyman. After several alerts from his watch, he ended up being taken care of by the health services.

Which made the cardiologist, Doctor Kapadia, say that he has excellent feedback on the Apple Watch and that he recommends that users take the alerts it emits seriously. You can always reread our article on this subject here.
