The “Hidden Iron” shrine requires you to play with electrical connections in Zelda TotK. BotW veterans should quickly find their feet, with some tips, both old and new, to discover in this video guide which also shows where to find the chest.
In general, Zelda Tears of the Kingdom tries to use different mechanics than Breath of the Wild for its Shrines. But it’s also interesting to see old mechanics mixed with new ones. The Hidden Iron Shrine is a good example of this, as it uses the conductive effect of metal to provide us with some puzzles.
Where to find the Tula Qamiqa shrine?
This shrine is rather hard to miss, since it is located at the exit of Gerudo Canyon, up high, a little before the Abandoned Relay. In short, it is located along the only road that leads into the desert. If you activate the Canyon Reconnaissance Tower, you can reach it easily by using the Paraglider.
How to complete it?
This shrine offers a series of small, easy-to-solve puzzles rather than one or two big ones. Here are the solutions in order:
- The electrical connection must be made to activate the gear. Use theGrip on the left ball, then glue it to the right ball, so that the current passes.
- Then, climb the gear to reach the next level. There is nothing special to do, unless you miss your chance to climb. In that case, use the power of Retrospective in order to return to the top.
- The principle is the same as for the first riddle, but you have to use a pendulum effect on one of the balls, so that you can stick them together when they are close together. The reason being that you can only handle one of the two at a time with Grip.
- Then use Infiltration under the stone blocks above, in order to reach the last section of the level.
As you will see, the ball chain is too short to make the connection now. You need an additional element. The correct solution is to use the power of Retrospective on the big gear, at the back of the roomand not on the ancillary components. By turning in the opposite direction, the gear will take you up in height, and a metal bar is there. You can take it to the missing metal connection with Grip. Then place it on the two bars, after passing the chained ball.
The alternative solution we used in the video is to simply put a metal weapon long on both connectors. It can also conduct current. This will save you some time, but it is impossible to retrieve the weapon without closing the access door at the end of the Sanctuary.
