Wintermute CEO: Ethereum leaders are caught in a “massive conflict”

Evgeny Gaevoy, CEO of Wintermute, believes that if Ethereum fails, it will be due to inconsistencies in leadership, not technical shortcomings compared to competitors like Solana.

The comment responded to controversy after Vitalik Buterin criticized celebrity memecoins, emphasizing the project should deliver social value instead of enriching celebrities and early investors.

Buterin was criticized by hip-hop artist Iggy Azalea, who launched the memecoin MOTHER and posted memes satirizing Buterin. Uniswap Labs co-founder Hayden Adams defended Buterin.

He criticized Azalea for downplaying Buterin’s contributions to the cryptocurrency community, expressing disappointment that instead of reacting positively and using profits to support social causes, the singer instead chose to mock Buterin.
