Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Hen Eggs: Where to find Hen Eggs to complete this mission?

Don’t have enough eggs on you to complete the side quest “The Hens’ Eggs” in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom? Check out the video walkthrough above and explanations, in images, below.

Hens’ Eggs: Where Will the Hens Lay Their Eggs?

Before you can get this quest, you will first need to complete the other mission of Citrathe shopkeeper at the Kakariko Village ingredient shop. Titled “The Best Strategy”, you must join two men at the circular vestige in the northwest of the map and help them fight the monsters there. Don’t forget the bokoblin up high to validate the quest.

When you talk to Citra again, she will explain that her stock of merchandise could be better if only she had some more bird eggs to sell. According to her, her two laying hens (which you can find in front of the store), disappear in the early morning to go and lay eggs elsewhere.

  • Go out of the store and look at the two chickens,
  • Wait until it is very precise 5:00 am (you can make a fire with a bundle of wood and a flint that you strike with a metal weapon),
  • The chickens will then start running: follow them,
  • You will come across the hiding place of the hens, a secret cave above the Cocorico Village where there are other chickens and very exactly 10 eggs to pick up!
  • Bring the eggs back to Citra to complete the quest and obtain 50 Rupees.

Bird Egg: How to Get Even More?

During your exploration, you may have already obtained one or two eggs but these are quite rare. You have to look in the trees as often as possible: if you spot a nest, you can then retrieve one or two fowl eggs from it. The best technique, however, is to scare the chickens you come across in villages, such as Elimith for example, by taking out your sword and waving it in front of them. When stressed, a chicken will lay an egg every time. This only works once per day in the game for each chicken but you can pass the time via a bed or fire to optimize the harvest.
