Well well well ! what we have here? Just a few days ago everyone was curious regarding upcoming Dell XPS laptops featuring Comet Lake-S CPUs and NVIDIA GeForce graphics. Today the new laptops have been confirmed by Dell France by accident, as the product pages were live for a short period of time.
The new lineup will bring two laptops: XPS 15 9500 and XPS 17 9700, which are 15- and 17-inch laptops respectively as their names suggest. Thanks to their slim design, the 2020 XPS lineup is expected to compete with Apple Mac Pro 16.
The XPS 17 is the first 17-inch XPS laptop since 2013, hence it gathered a lot of attention. This is 2.5kg laptop with 2.5cm thickness, so neither the lightest nor the thinnest laptop around. Yet, it shines for a few reasons: the screen will be a 16:10 aspect ratio IPS 500nits panel. The 3840×2400 version even has touch support. The screen will be powered by either integrated Intel UHD 630 graphics or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060/GTX 1650 Ti. Meanwhile, GTX 1650 Ti is the best GPU available for the XPS 15 model, leaving 2060 exclusive to XPS 17.
Interestingly, the processor for both models will be available in four options: i5-10300H, i7-10750H, i710875H and i9-10885H. The latter has not been released by Intel as for yet. This is an 8-core CPU with a boost up to 5.3 GHz. As of this moment, it is unclear what is the difference between 10980HK and 10885H.
Other features of the new XPS line are quad-speakers tuned by Jack Joseph Puig, 86 or 97 Wh batteries (97 is exclusive to XPS 9700), soldered WiFi (not necessarily a good feature) and dual NVME slots (exclusive to 9700).
Sadly, the leak did not include any information on pricing or release date, but since the pages were already live, both things should become known very soon.
