Apple’s plans for a foldable iPhone are becoming clearer

We’ve been talking to you for a while now about the possible launch of foldable devices by Apple. Analyst Jeff Pu of Haitong International Securities has just published a note that is surprising to say the least on this subject.

Surprising information

The expert indeed affirms that the Cupertino firm is working on two foldable products, the first of 20.3 inches which would be released at the end of 2025 and a foldable iPhone planned for the end of 2026. As recalled 9to5Macseveral well-known informants, including Ming-Chi Kuo Mark Gurman and Ross Young have already mentioned a foldable MacBook stamped by the Apple brand, but they cited a much more distant timetable (2026 or 2027 depending on the sources).

For his part, Jeff Pu believes that the Tech giant has accelerated on these issues if we are to believe his information from the supply chain. Concerning the iPhone, the analyst specifies that Apple would aim for a “ultra-high-end market” with a screen between 7.9 inches and 8.3 inches.

Screens still up to par?

We must of course distance ourselves from such speculation. Especially since the expert is currently the only one to bet on such a short timetable. As a reminder, last February, we quoted the informant “Focus Numérique” who urged caution:

Apple is accelerating the development of foldable screen products and has already purchased and disassembled devices from several companies for research. However, it appears that the project has been temporarily put on hold due to unsatisfactory screen testing by the screen team.

If the screens would still not be up to Apple’s standards, the Cupertino company does not seem to have abandoned this promising idea.
