Google Chrome prepares a performance sidebar

When talking about web browsers, and in this Google Chrome plays a more than relevant role, performance is a very important aspect and that worries more and more users. This is understandable, since all you have to do is take a look at the Windows task manager to see that, as a general rule, the browser that we use regularly usually occupies the highest position in terms of resource consumption, especially memory.

Also is true that There is significant room for improvement in their underlying technologies.. In the case of Google Chrome we have already seen, in the past, multiple movements aimed at trying to optimize its operation, although it is also true that they have not always gone well, as we saw when Windows 10 introduced a new method to manage memory heaps and Google tried to make use of this novelty, but in the end it was not possible.

However, we tend to always blame the browser for excessive resource consumption, but sometimes we are not aware of to what extent Our habits are also responsible for this circumstance.. Either by having an indecent number of tabs open (although it is true that now Chrome, when detecting that they are inactive, “freezes” them and frees up the memory they would consume), using demanding extensions in this sense, accessing websites that also demand a good amount of resources, etc.

Being able to audit the operation in different use cases is, therefore, key, since it allows us to evaluate the impact based on the use we are making of the browser at all times, so that we know that Google is working on a sidebar for Chrome that will show performance information It is, without a doubt, excellent news for all users of this browser. Some time ago we saw some movement in this direction but, according to we read in Android Policethere have been important advances recently.

The latest advances show that New modules have been added to this sidebar, among them one dedicated to “browser health”, which undoubtedly reminds us of the “Browser Essentials” bar that we can find, for some time now, in Microsoft Edge, and which is undoubtedly quite useful. There are no signs, however, of when this new Chrome component will be released so that its users can start using it, but let’s hope it is sooner rather than later.
