Security Center is the QNAP application aimed at maintaining control of the security of the NAS, with monitoring of file activity and the status of the QNAP NAS itself to add an extra layer of security. The company has announced a new improved version that adds this specific function to monitor in real time any strange or unusual activity that may be detected in stored files.
If you detect something unusual, Security Center will take immediate actions including protecting the files, marking them as “read-only”, taking a backup, and canceling the shadow copy schedule. In this way, it is possible to avoid certain attacks such as massive Ransomware that encrypts files.
The application also allows you to customize security policies at different levels, monitor what is happening on the NAS in real time and even receive instant notifications. It also lacks support for antivirus and malware removal itself or through third-party tools available through the QNAP application store.
The new Security Center features are available in the QTS and QuTS Hero operating systems starting with version 5.2 and h 5.2 respectively. This is a feature that is still in beta, so you have to join the beta program to be able to install it for the moment.
