JPR (Jon Peddie Research) mentions that the customer CPU market reached 62 million unitswhich is 33% higher than the figures for the same period of the previous year, but also 9.4% lower than those of the previous quarter (last quarter of 2023).

Another important fact is the participation of desktop and laptop processors. The market share of laptop CPUs reached 73%, while 27% was for desktop processors, marking an increase in the share of laptop CPUs.

«Jon Peddie, president of JPR, commented: «The decline in customer CPU shipments in the 1st quarter after four quarters of positive news confused a few, especially investors. It’s actually good news in a sense if it’s an indication that the market has stabilized and returned to its traditional cyclical behavior. If so, and we believe it is, the second quarter will also be down.
