Apple sells mobile phones like hotcakes… But not their entire product line it likes and works in sales in the same way. Most users opt for the standard version when they want to spend as little as possible, while those who want the best pay what they are asked for for the Pro editions, which with their titanium chassis and better camera sensors represent an appreciable level increase. The Plus versions (with larger screen size, but essentially the basic model) are in no man’s land and analysts say they are the least sold.
iPhone 17 Slim, the big change for 2025?
Apple has completely defined the line of smartphones that it will market this year, the iPhone 16, logically just a few months after the launch. But it is also preparing the next generations and hence the first information about them begins to arrive.
According to analysts Haitong International Securities, Apple would abandon the Plus model in favor of a new batch iPhone 17 Slim. They say it will have a different design, slimmer as its name suggests, improvements to the front camera and a smaller dynamic island.
The line would be completed with the following versions and screen sizes:
- iPhone 17: 6.1 inches.
- iPhone 17 Slim: 6.6 inches.
- iPhone 17 Pro: 6.3 inches.
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: 6.9 inches.
Asian analysts say the first three would use an aluminum frame. The titanium chassis It would still be reserved for the higher version. In terms of performance, the first two would use the A18 or A19 chipsets, while the two Pro models would use the A19 Pro SoC. They also state that Apple will raise the minimum RAM memory to 8 Gbytes on the iPhone 17 Slim. The two top models would have 12 Gbytes of RAM.
The four versions of iPhone 17 will have 24 MP front selfie cameras. It will be a noticeable improvement compared to the current 12 MP front cameras used by Apple. As for the smaller Dynamic Island of the iPhone 17 Pro Max, it will be possible thanks to a new “metalens” technology for the proximity sensor and that can help Apple drastically reduce the size of the Face ID sensor.
