Final Fantasy XIV will soon have a new expansion! Are you impatient to see the adventure continue, or are you planning to get back into it? We reveal to you the configurations necessary to run the new version of the game.
Final Fantasy XIV was originally released in 2011, then was completely revised in 2013. This MMORPG is the second game of this type in the Square Enix license. After a few small hiccups, the game has greatly improved over the years and the publisher is still publishing new content in 2024. This is how on July 2, 2024 the 5th expansion will be released, named Dawntrail. It will feature new dungeons and exploration missions, a high-difficulty raid, but also the continuation of the adventures for the Warriors of Light.
Last news, and not the least: a graphical overhaul accompanies the release of this extension. Thus, the game will require more resources to run. What are the minimum components required to run the extension, and what hardware should you choose if you want to upgrade your desktop PC?
Do you want ready-made equipment? Go to our guide to gaming PC configurations. If you prefer to play it on a home console, the game will also be available on Xbox Series, Xbox One, and PS5, PS4, as well as on macOS.

Please note that Square Enix offers a benchmark to run on your machine (Windows only) to check how the game will run. It’s simple, you have to obtain a score of at least 15,000 for the game to run at full speed, and a score of at least 4000-5000 for it to run at all.
We were able to do the test ourselves, and found that our laptop equipped with a somewhat old GTX 1660 Ti was capable of running the game in Full HD more or less correctly with a score of 7743. A priori, the extension will therefore not be too greedy.
