You can now jump directly from Windows 10 to Windows 11 23H2

At the operating systems party, Windows 10 is still the king and queen of the dance. We already told you, a few days ago, that its market share is much higher than that of Windows 11, and this morning we dedicated a reflection to this situation, which we can summarize in that the success of one of its products represents, however, a failure for Microsoft due to the poor level of reception that Windows 11 has had compared to what, without a doubt, they should have expected in Redmond.

Over time we have seen that Microsoft has intensified its active policy in terms of encouraging Windows 10 users to make the jump to Windows 11. Only so far in 2024 we have already seen several actions in this sense, such as the one in February and the one in April, the latter with the added bonus that the messages were also displayed on computers that are not compatible with the most recent version of Windows for not meeting the minimum requirements. Although, perhaps because they had already planned it before, also last month Microsoft decided to reduce the minimum requirements of Windows 11.

On the other hand, within each operating system Microsoft always tries to ensure that its users stay on the most current version of it.. In this regard, in February we saw how the update to version 23H2 began to be forced on all Windows 11 users with previous versions, and a few weeks ago we learned that they were “sneaking” Moments 5 with Patch Tuesday in April. However, and as surprising as it may seem, in the migration process from Windows 10 to Windows this was not the case until now.

If you have carried out this update recently, you would most likely find that The jump from Windows 10 to Windows 11 did not install version 23H2 of the same. Until now this was not the case for 100% of users, but it was for the vast majority. In this way, if you wanted to be fully updated, you had to do it in two steps, first from 10 to 11, and then update Windows 11 to version 23H2, to which we must add the subsequent installation of more recent updates. In short, a process that should be carried out quickly and easily ended up resulting in a festival of updates and reboots. Because? I wish I knew.

It seems that, fortunately, Redmond has decided that it was time to simplify the process a little and, as we read in Windows Latest, Microsoft has finally enabled direct upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 23H2. In this way, people interested in taking this leap, but who for whatever reason have not yet taken it, will save a step that made the process more tedious.

It would be interesting, however, to know the reason why the direct update has not been the preferred option in general, since users who have updated from Windows 10 to Windows 11 22H2 have subsequently been able to make the jump to 23H2, which tells us that It wasn’t a compatibility issue..
